(Further) Scientific Education for Doctorate Students

Within the TUM-GS, an emphasis is layed also on the scientific education of all the doctoral candidates. The first focal point is still the own research group with its group seminars, publication discussions, and problem seminars. Further possibiities are attendances at the various lecture series within out chemical institutes and the local GDCh branch. It is also possible to attend master level courses - as long as they were not attend during the M.Sc. study programme.

Regardless, how somebody would define "scientific education" for him- or herself, in the end it has to be 6 SWS (hours per week per semester) within three years - calculated to the more familiar "60 minute hours"  it is appox 62 hours. Without fulfilling this requirement, a obligatory member can not schedule the final exam and a volontary member may have to waive the additional TUM-GS certificate.
