Research Areas
The goal of our research is the elucidation of the atomic details of the biomolecular signaling network that controls cellular reactions in living organisms. Currently we focus on the structural characterization of the protein kinase TOR (target of rapamycin) and of its interactions with other cellular components. TOR is a central controller of cell growth. Misregulation of cell growth can result in cancer, diabetes, obesity, and pathological changes in organ and body size.
