Research Areas
Professor Buchner (b. 1960) carries out research into the principals of the structural formation of proteins and the cellular machinery of protein folding which also allows survival in adverse environmental conditions (such as high temperatures). In addition to providing an insight into fundamental cellular processes, these studies provide valuable information about the conditions required for the production of proteins in biotechnological processes, i.e. for the biosynthesis of antibodies whose molecular basis has been clarified.
